A great day at Pol-e-Khab and a fantastic introduction to Iranian climbing . Thanks to Iran Climbing Guide. Everything was there today : A beautiful spot, many good routes ( Several grades and several types of climbs and specially very friendly people .I definitely look forward to come back climbing in Iran .
I had the dream of visiting Iran and climb in Bisotun and thanks to Iran Climbing Guide I could realize it in the best way.Searching informations in the web about climbing in Bisotun I could not find many informations, just the reports of the climbing festival that took place in 2010/2012/2014, the topos prepared by Guy Abert and Ebrahim Nowtash and the page iranclimbingguide.com with some good proposals for climbing and mountaineering in Iran. Iran is a country quite different from what I expected, I just heard from some friends about the hospitality of Iranian people, but I didnít expect such a modern country, with good infrastructures, a lot of green areas in the cities with many people enjoying life in open air; spring is an explosion of colorful flowers and every spot, even in the mess of the bazar, is clean.
We visited Isfahan and Teheran and, as we didnít reserve a lot of time of our trip to sightseeing, the help of our friends was really fundamental. They gave us the opportunity to visit nice places and have a competent guide of the main touristic attractions. As we arrived in Teheran airport, Visa procedures were quite smooth thanks to Hamid that pre-arranged everything for our arrival. Even if our plane landed at 3.30 at night our guides were waiting for us, smiling and ready to drive us to Bisotun (a 7 hours trip!) in order to give us the chance to climb from the first day of our vacation.
We could enjoy every comfort, from early breakfasts, lunch boxes, afternoon teas, wonderful and always different dinners. Personally I was very satisfied since, being vegetarian, I had always varied and equilibrated food. They arranged for a good room with private bathroom and hot shower in the camping at the base of the mountain. In our last day in Iran we had the opportunity to climb in the nice crag of Pol-E-Khab; this spot is just 1.5 hours north of Teheran in a beautiful area surrounded by high mountains; the climbing style is mainly cracks on good sandstone. Lines are really enjoyable and well protected. The new topoguide just published by Hamid Shafaghi and Hassan Gerami is well done with good pictures to locate the pitches. (maybe the colored lines on the pictures could be a little thinner).

Ski touring in IRAN
Got back about a week ago from IRAN. We were doing some ski touring in different areas around Iran.
Our guides helped us finding good spots in the east and center of Alborz, as well as around Polur.
We have spent some great days in Iran, ski touring as well as sight seeing. What a fascinating country, all the options and the great and very welcoming people.
Thanks a lot to our guides and iranclimbingguide.com for organizing our trip and the great help in any possible way.
We have really enjoyed beeing with you and especially appreciated your great flexibility and the possibility to change programm according to the actual conditions and our needs and desires.
Thank you for everything. We really hope to be back soon.
